A Little Background of My Fangirling Journey
Hi, my name is Dey. I've been an avid fan of Nam Joo Hyuk since I watched him on Cheese in the Trap, a Webtoon drama aired on tvN. Thanks to the drama, I got to know Joo Hyuk and everything related about him. When I first saw Joo Hyuk in Cheese in the Trap, I instantly fell for him instead of the lead actors. Other than handsome and tall, I find him very attractive in some ways. Well, I can say he is the manifestation of my ideal type actually. Too bad, I was a bit late for knowing such a handsome creature two years after his debut, huhu.

On the other side, I already knew Lee Sung Kyung since she starred in It's Okay It's Love in 2014. Despite portraying an irritating role, I really like her appearance in the drama and began to wonder what kind of person she is in real life. So, I decided to check her Instagram account and I was quite surprised knowing she had approximately two million followers when she just made her acting debut.

Apparently, Lee Sung Kyung has been a top model since 2008. No wonder, she had been famous among fashion people even before she acted in a drama. Judging from her feed, I think she is a cool person and appealing. I really love her fashion sense and how chic she looks even when she is only wearing a T-shirt. I immediately put her in my A list Korean celebrity at that time.

I hadn't really followed Joo Hyuk and Sung Kyung's journey in entertainment industry before I watched them together in Weighlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. I had liked two of them far before the drama, but not to the extent I save their pictures in my phone and constantly stalk their Instagram account. Yes, I am one of those fans who got obsessed with Joo Hyuk and Sung Kyung because WFKBJ. The drama successfully made me completely fall head over heels for both of them, especially for Joo Hyuk. I started to retrace their life and find out more about them.

Where It Began
Joo Hyuk and Sung Kyung were close friends who had started their friendship few years before they co-starred in WFKBJ. They are both model-turned-actor/actress who belong to the same agency, YGKPlus, and have been hanging out together since their modeling days. Along with other YGKPlus models, such as Jang Ki Yong, Park Hyeong Seop, Ji E Soo, Joo Woo Jae, and Byeon Woo Seok, they merged into a kicky squad.
Let's take a glimpse of their modeling days during 2015 S/S Seoul Fashion Week.

He joined the agency in the mid of 2013 after he attended KPlus Academy for three months. I'm not sure when did Sung Kyung join KPlus, but as far as I know, Sung Kyung had already settled in KPlus when Joo Hyuk stepped into KPlus building. So yeah, here we go, the beginning of friends-to-lovers tale of our visual couple.

Let's take a glimpse of their modeling days during 2015 S/S Seoul Fashion Week.

We barely see Sung Kyung in the video, but you can spot some interactions between Joo Hyuk and Sung Kyung there. Jump to 2:57, and see for yourself! How do you think? I think it's just a normal interaction between work colleagues, but that's what makes it sweet. I mean, it's very magical to see how love can be created and cultivated between two different persons who, I guess, had zero expectations.
While having zero expectations towards his hoobae, Sung Kyung had fun with the squad and uploaded the moment right away to her Instagram account.

According to some interviews, ever since Lee Sung Kyung was a kid, she got along well with boys more than girls. It explains why she’s always around male models or boys in general, as we can see from her Instagram feed. She is called as ‘Kkapkyung’ by her close friends because she has a bright personality and is very loud. She is often described as a bright, energetic, and modest person. Some of her male friends even hyung-zoned her and call her 'Hyung', because she is more like an older brother to them. I guess no male friends see her as a woman, including Joo Hyuk hahaha.

Back to the topic. Meanwhile, based on my observations, Nam Joo Hyuk has more reserved personality. He is playful and loves to joke around, just like his character in WFKBJ, but only with some people he is comfortable with. Unlike Sung Kyung who is quite loud and expressive, Joo Hyuk looks more calm and cold from the outside.
It is so good to see two different persons having distinct personalities unite into one. As a fan of Joo Hyuk himself, I am so delightful too see my boy finally gets "that girl" all the guys want. I feel like he just won a competition over Lee Sung Kyung, hahaha. I mean, look at Sung Kyung. She got pretty face, ideal body, bright personality, good-natured, overflowing talents, and I don't know what should I ask for more if I were her. I am very sure, the guys around her mostly have feelings for her, but they keep quiet because they are just too afraid of ruining the friendship (or getting dumped keke). My instinct tells me that Joo Hyuk already had feelings for Sung Kyung long before they co-starred in a drama. He was one of those guys who didn't have the guts to tell her.
Joo Hyuk-a! I know you were a newbie at those times.. But don't let Ki Yong steal your noona! Kekeke. Why did you just standstill behind and steal glances at Sung Kyung silently?! For those of you who don't know, Ki Yong and Sung Kyung seemed very close throughout their modeling days, to the point fans had thought they were dating. I have no idea whether they are still that close until now or not, but I have to agree their friendship is one of a kind.
